Gothenburg Games - fashion show and lecture

I haven't updated here in a whole month now, sorry! ( ;___; ) November has been a long month with lot's of work and study, but little fun... I did attend an event in Gothenburg though. I was lucky to be  invited there to hold a small lecture on Japanese fashion (mostly lolita) and to be a part of a fashion show. It was a lot of fun to be able to actively spread some knowledge about Japanese fashion and to meet fellow J-fashion lovers from Gothenburg. I hope I can attend more events in the future! ( ^ w ^ )

Since I was on stage talking I didn't get lots of chances to take photos, but here are some photos my bf managed to snap! (It was dark, so sorry for the crappy quality)

Metamorphose tea-party

Finally it’s time for the Metamorphose tea party post! I must say that I actually thought I took lots and lots of photos, apparently I didn’t… anyhow I’m happy to share the experience and the photos I have!

The tea party was held at Schick Hotel Stefanie in Vienna, a gorgeous hotel with really beautiful rooms and decor. Too bad I didn’t take any photos of how the hotel looked from outside (and inside lol). I didn’t have a VIP ticket, but one of my roommates did - so we were at the hotel early and had plenty of time to take outfit pictures and such.   

Let’s start with my outfit!

I fell in love with the print of this Metamorphose dress and bought it specially for the occasion. (Sadly it was a bit too big for me, so I decided to sell it after the event.) The dress series is called “Noble Tea Party“ and I thought that it was therefore really fitting to wear to a tea party. ( ^ u ^ )

The rest of my coord is based on the name of the dress - I tried to recreate a ‘noble girl going to a tea party’ kind of feeling. XD The main point of the coord is of course the hat! It took me 2 weeks to make and it’s 100% hand sewn (making my hands very sad, and me pretty proud of the result). I got lots of compliments, so it was totally worth making and I am super happy everyone liked it!

The VIP guests were allowed in an hour before the rest of us, so while waiting there was a lot of photo taking going on. We were just under 200 lolitas at the event (my speculation) and I’m sad I didn’t take more photos, both of people and with people. So many lovely outfits I don’t get to show you guys. ( ;___; )

While waiting I also had time to have a coffee with rum and whipped cream. I forgot what it’s called, but it is supposedly a specialty in Vienna. The hotel bar was really pretty, hence I had to take a ‘I’m drinking cofee’ photo!

I must say, there was A LOT of rum in my coffee XD much more than I expected. 

When the time for the event to start came, there were pretty many lovely lolitas queuing in the vestibule. 

I’m pretty sure some oujis are hiding in there as well.

Then it was time to go in, mingle and of course grab some food. I am so used to the fact that no photos are allowed in shops in Japan, I didn’t take any photos of the stalls. There was not a huge amount of shops at the tea party, but there were a couple of indie brands selling their awesome wares and of course Metamorphose had a stall managed by the designer Taira Chinatsu and brand president Ryo Matsuoka. I greeted them welcome to Europe and managed to take a photo with Taira Chinatsu. ( // ^ w ^ // )

Also the Japanese band Die Milch was guests at the tea party. They were both really nice. <3

Speaking of food, here is a part of the buffet table and my plate – with mostly sweet stuff on it. Haha

One of the highlights of the event was of course the Metamorphose fashion show. All the models were really great and I think there was a nice flow and choreography to the show! I didn't manage to snap a photo of all the models, but here are some of my favorite looks:

After the fashion show there was also a ruffle with lots of nice prizes, a Q and A panel with the designer and Metamorphoses designer chose the 2 pretties outfits. I won a cute set of a ring and hair accessories from myauMANIA. Thank you! ( ^ w ^ )/

After the tea party was wrapped up, there was an after party. The Gothic Dandy and Lolita Music festival! It was really awesome that it was held the same day as the tea party and I am really happy I could participate. I have no photos, since I left most of my stuff at the apartment, but the bands performing were: Die Milch (from Japan), Lolita KompleX, Meinhard and Swansong for a Raven. 

They were all really great and the performances were awesome. There were also 2 dance acts, which was really fun! I was standing in the first row, waving at everyone and dancing. haha 

The day of the tea party was long, but filled with lots of awesome meetings and fun activities. I hope everyone has as fun as I did. <3 I am really happy I got to go and I can’t wait to see all my friends again!

Frill Fest videos

This isn't really a real post about Frill Fest, but I totally forgot to share some videos! Here is an awesome Frill Fest video made my Louise (Swedi Candy). In the video you can see some super cute and cool outfits up close, some of the stalls and events held at the convention. You can even see me being elected as Swedens  Kawaii Ambassador and derping around on stage. XD

Here is one more really cute video made for Frill Fest by Jen (Minty Frills/Mint). This video features many lolitas in the Swedish lolita community, lots of pretty outfits and lolita events. ( ^  ^ )

Baby the Stars Shine Bright tea party

Here comes the second part of my adventures at Frill Fest 2015 - the Baby the Stars Shine Bright tea party! ( ^ ^ )

The tea party was held at Skansen Kronan in Gothenburg. The venue is an old fortress and we had the whole building booked for the tea party which was really cool.

Just arrived and getting ready

I didn't know anything about the table arrangements beforehand and was pleasantly surprised about the fact that I was given a place at the VIP table with our BABY guests. I must say that being the translator for this event was really awesome!! The other 3 vacant seats at our table were raffled to the VIP guests, which I think was a really great idea.

Besides eating really nice food, drinking tea or coffee there was a raffle with LOTS of prizes! Everyone got a prize which was really fun. I won a pretty sticker sponsored by Hellocon. ( ^ u ^ ) After eating all the food and raffling we headed out to take photos. All the VIPs got to take a photo with the guests from BABY and then it was back in to the venue and the 2 best dressed guests were announced. There was a prize for best Baby the Stars Shine Bright coord and one for  the best Alice and the Pirates coord. I think it was a really difficult task to choose just 2 winners, there were so many really stunning coords! The last part was taking group pictures, separate pictures, selfies and even more pictures. (haha)

I tried to take pictures, but as always, in the end I didn't really get many pictures taken. Anyhow, here are some pictures I did manage to snap.

This was my first tea party experience and I must say that I love it! I hope I can attend many tea parties in the future and hopefully be useful and help to arrange and translate too~

Frill Fest 2015

There are already many posts and photos out from the Swedish lolita event Frill Fest, but I thought that it's better to write and share my experience late then never. ( ^  ^ ) My journey towards participating in Frill Fest started simply from buying a ticket to the event. At that time I had just come back from Japan and I was really happy to hear that there was a lolita event and a tea party planned to be held in Sweden. Later I contacted Carolyn - one of the organizers to see if they needed some help and maybe a translator and luckily they did! So that's' basically the backstory of how I got to participate in the event, just sheer luck I'd say. 

The 4 days I was in Gothenburg were really busy! There was lots of running around, planning and organizing, fixing and re-scheduling and almost no time for food. (haha) Although it was really busy it was also really, really fun! I had the opportunity to meet Misako, the staff and designer of Baby the Stars Shine Bright and lots of awesome people from all over Scandinavia. I really wish we could hold events like this more often! 

The highlights of Frill Fest were of course the fashion shows, panels, mingle time, the shops and the Kawaii Ambassador nomination. At first I was scheduled to participate in 2 fashion shows, but decided later that I can just as well be in the community fashion show as well. I'd say that all the shows were a great success and all the models were really awesome! We definitely made the best effort we could and I think everyone from BABY and the indie designers were really happy with the outcome. Everyone was really flawless on every occasion!

Sadly as I was running around translating och fixing stuff most of the time I didn't really get to mingle, buy things or listen to the panels much. But from the glimpses of what I had the time to see the indie fashion designers panel was really interesting, and I wish I had more time to listen and ask some questions. I also regret nor being able to thoroughly look at all the items Baby the Stars Shine Bright were selling at their booth. 

As for the Kawaii Ambassador nomination, the fact that I won really came as a huge surprise. I entered the competition because I felt that I could give something to the lolita community, both in Sweden and worldwide. I thought it would be so great to share my experience in lolita fashion with others, to help the community to grow and to spread the knowledge about lolita fashion. But with so many really talented lolitas also entering the competition I didn't even dream of actually winning. I am really great-full for everyone who voted for me and I sincerely hope I don't disappoint anyone in my role as a Kawaii Ambassador.

I can probably go on writing about Frill Fest forever, as the time I spent there was packed with so many awesome events, but I don't want to bore anyone so I think its time to stop now. I will write about the Baby the Stars Shine Bright tea party in a separate post to not make this one overly-huge. I hope everyone who participated in Frill Fest enjoyed it as much as I did and I can't wait for more lolita events to go to!
